As I’m in my early 40’s, although my skin is pretty good most of the time, I have noticed a few fine lines creeping in around my eyes & brow area. I wanted something that went just a bit deeper than my usual facial to even out my skin tone so my beauty therapist suggest I had a dermaplane facial.IMG_3953

I made sure it was on a day where I didn’t have to wear makeup after it which isn’t essential but definitely recommended to give your skin time to breathe. So on my first day off in a month I booked myself in for the treatment.

Dermaplaning is a skin care treatment that removes dead skin cells and vellum hair (aka peach fuzz). The therapist uses a small, sterile blade whilst holding the skin taut, swiping the blade in gentle upwards motions. Dermaplaning leaves your skin brighter, smoother, glowing and more youthful. You can expect to see instant improvement in skin texture and tone, whilst the long term effects are increased to show fewer wrinkles and dark spots, reduction of spot scarring and the removal of fine facial hair.

IMG_1190My treatment lasted an hour & was completely painless & quite relaxing. My therapist showed me the dead skin she’d scraped off after the treatment which was quite shocking but very satisfying. The results were instant and my skin looked fresher and felt amazing. Applying makeup in the days after was fantastic as my skin was so smooth it went on like a dream. There have been some reports that hair grows back thicker once you’ve had this treatment which is untrue. The hairs have been cut so they grow back blunt making them feel a tiny bit thicker to touch but they are visually no different to before. The effects lasted a couple of weeks and it is a treatment I will definitely be having again. It’s recommended you should have the treatment every six weeks approximately for the best results but a one off treatment is fantastic if you have an event coming up or your skin is feeling like it needs a little tlc.

One Dermablading treatment at Koko beauty spa in Kirkburton, Huddersfield costs £68 or an express treatment is £50. You can also combine it with an A Lift treatment for £80.
