FOOTPRINTS IN THE SNOW- WHERE DID MY BABY GO!

This morning left me with a huge lump in my throat and a pang in my stomach!

We woke up to a light snow on the ground and, after waving my 13 year old daughter Isabelle off to school I got ready to take Max, my just turned 11 year old son, to school in the car.

Our steep front path was quite icy so Max and I both walked down on the grass to avoid slipping.

We enjoyed our usual car journey together and its part of the morning I love, one on one time with my little boy discussing what lessons he has that day and him moaning about how much homework he gets! On my drive home I usually reflect on my day ahead and plans for the kids for the week amongst the other things buzzing round in my busy head.

I arrived back home and walked up the path and thought the postman must have been as there were some large footprints in the snow along side mine, until it hit me – they weren’t the postman or any other mans footprints they were my little boys!!!

When did he suddenly grow up? Where did those adorable little feet go? But he’s not a baby any more, he’s 11 and growing fast, maybe about to begin puberty and his once little feet are now the same size as mine.

It left me feeling nostalgic and a little sad until I thought about the gorgeous young boy he is now. Yes that cute, adorable toddler is no longer there but I’ll always have those amazing memories and now I also have a wonderful boy who I can have quite grown-up conversations with and enjoy hearing about his latest crush at school and what he and his mates have been up to.

I can’t wait to see what the future holds for my adored boy and I’ll enjoy watching him grow into a lovely young man.

But he will always be my baby boy!

(I can almost feel him rolling his eyes at me after that statement!!!)
