Titanic Spa

Situated in Huddersfields Colne Valley is the wonderful gem that is Titanic Spa. Titanic Spa can boast being the first established Eco-Spa in the country and provides a wide range of first class treatments. One cold Friday night in early January my mum and I booked ourselves in for a Twilight Heat & Ice experience, a 3 hour session with use of all the heat & aromatherapy rooms, the outdoor hot tub, Prosecco and canapés. It’s a wonderful way for a quick pampering treat and is excellent value for money. The atmosphere is calm and relaxed and it was a perfect relaxation after a hectic Christmas. We didn’t add on any treatments on this occasion but I have been to the spa many times before and the treatment menu is extensive with wonderful therapists.

After some delicious canapés washed down with Prosecco, all served by excellent staff, we then enjoyed some time in the relaxation room.

The spa uses two of my favourite product lines, Elemis and Neom which can also be purchased at reception.

There are are many various spa experiences including over night stays. I can highly recommend this wonderful spa and will continue to return many times.

BEAUTY, HEALTH & STYLE

Slimming World IMG_6539

After over indulging over Christmas I wanted to really get myself back into shape this year and so I signed up to slimming world the first week in January.

I’ll be doing a blog post on it in a couple of months as its early days yet but so far so good. I’ve already lost half a stone and I feel much better in myself with more energy. It takes a bit of getting used to at first but I can honestly say I’ve not felt hungry once. I want it to be a lifestyle change not just a fad diet so I will be doing it on a regular basis. However life is too short to not enjoy yourself and I will still be enjoying eating out & having a few drinks. It’s all about balance and with slimming world I feel I can do that.

COCKTAIL OF THE MONTH

IMG_6544ENGLISH GARDEN GIN COCKTAIL

As I started at Slimming World at the beginning of January, I’ve cut out the wine and Prosecco and have discovered a love of Gin. It’s less calories and less sugar and the array of flavoured Gins around is extensive since Gin has recently soared in popularity.

Ingredients

Gin, elderflower tonic water, cucumber, ice

Method

Mix together these quintessentially British ingredients that are perfect for creating a refreshing gin cocktail. English garden is really easy to make and could be made into a jug cocktail, too, just multiply the ingredients by the number of people you want to serve.

BOOK OF THE MONTH

The Unmumsy MumIMG_6545

THIS IS NOT A PARENTING MANUAL. THIS IS REAL LIFE.

The Unmumsy Mum writes candidly about motherhood like it really is: the messy, maddening, hilarious reality, how there is no ‘one size fits all’ approach and how it is sometimes absolutely fine to not know what you are doing. The lessons she’s learnt while grappling with two small boys – from birth to teething, 3am night feeds to toddler tantrums, soft play to toilet training – will have you roaring with laughter and taking great comfort in the fact that it’s definitely not just you!

FILM OF THE MONTH

IMG_6546Schindlers List

We have just subscribed to Netflix (which I’m loving) and having recently been back to visit the Ann Frank museum in Amsterdam, I stumbled across ‘Schindler’s List’ which I hadn’t seen for many years and so decided to watch Spielberg’s Oscar winning epic.

Spielberg gives his all to the story of a selfish businessman (Liam Neeson) gradually coming to terms with the inhuman atrocities of the Holocaust, putting his life on the line to save as many Jews as he can. Spielberg finds untold depth in black and white,  from elegant shots borrowed from Hollywood’s Golden Age, to modern handheld camera work that captures the immediacy of the tragedy.
