HELLO MARCH 2019
Wow! I can’t believe the beautiful weather we’ve been having at the end of February. Isabelle’s birthday is the 1st of March and this time last year she had a snow day for her birthday so this lovely weather has been glorious. As always, as soon as the daffodils are out I constantly have them around the house as they’re my favourite flower and make me happy.
FABULOUS THINGS THAT HAPPENED LAST MONTH
- The amazing Kimberley Wyatt from the Pussycat Dolls came to my dance studios to do some amazing workshops with my students plus Isabelle got some lovely photos with her.
- One of my students qualified for the Miss Dance of Great Britain Finals 2019
- A lovely half term week with Isabelle and Max
- Some gorgeous family outdoor time and dog walks in this fabulous weather. I’m so lucky to live in a truly beautiful part of Yorkshire
- A lovely lunch with a close friend at the new restaurant Devour in Holmfirth
- Booking a holiday to New York! Not until August but NYC is my favourite city on earth and I just can’t wait to go back and take the kids.
LIFESTYLE, LEISURE, PLACES & HOME
Getting the house ready for Spring
My favourite season is almost upon us and I love nothing more than letting winter go and welcoming Spring into our home. I love to be seasonal and I enjoy adding a few touches to compliment the season.
As soon as they are out I have daffodils around the home. They are suc
h a happy colourful flower and they make me think of new beginnings.
As always candles play a big part in my home and at this time of year I
love fresher smells with The White Company’s Spring Candle & Yankee Candle Pink Sands being a couple of my favourites.
I love to have a seasonal wreath in my kitchen and my Spring/Easter one is filled with pretty spring flowers including daisies and my beloved daffodils.
BEAUTY, HEALTH & STYLE
Time to take better care of myself
I’ve been very busy with very little time to myself recently and I’ve definitely neglected myself a bit and not had time to do anything extra with my beauty and fitness routines. No matter how busy I am I ALWAYS look after my skin and remove all makeup no matter what, but it’s the little things like having time to take a relaxing bath instead so speedy showers. Don’t get me wrong, a lovely refreshing shower is great on a daily basis but a bath with oils and luxury products & with all the candles lit really does relax me and take away the stresses of life for a little while at least.
I love my weekly Pilates classes but sadly I’ve not had chance to make it for a few weeks but that needs to change. Yes I’m busy, but so are a lot of people and an exercise regime is non negotiable no matter how busy you are, so as of next week I will be putting that time aside to return to my lovely Pilates class.
Self care is not self indulgent, its necessary in this busy world we live in, after all, if we don’t look after ourselves how can we look after other people? So next week it’s back to the New Year New Me I started so well in January and and the beginning of February. March I’m coming at ya!!!
COCKTAIL OF THE MONTH
1 bottle champagne or prosecco, chilled
1 freshly squeezed orange juice, chilled
Half-fill each of 6 glasses with champagne, then carefully pour in the orange juice until the glass is full.
BOOK OF THE MONTH
If I Could Tell You Just One Thing
If I Could Tell You Just One Thing… is not only packed with great advice but is also an enormously entertaining, brilliantly written and stunningly designed book. Each of the encounters is complemented by a pen and ink portrait by the award-winning British artist, Samuel Kerr.
I bought it as a coffee table book and everyone that comes has a flick through and loves the book.
FILM OF THE MONTH
I saw this film when it first came out in 2012 but being newbies to Netflix it came up as a recommendation so Tony and I watched it again last Saturday evening. It’s a hard hitting film and something that touches us greatly as it was the exact place we had our honeymoon and all the stunning restaurants and hotels where we stayed were destroyed. When a film is based on a true story it really hits home and this film is very well acted with excellent performances throughout and is loosely based on one families true account of the disaster. I can’t say I enjoyed it as that’s not the nature of the film but it’s important to watch if you’ve not seen it to see what these poor people went through and a community left in tatters.
THIS MONTH I’M LOVING
Seeing my gorgeous girl so happy on her birthday and this beautiful weather
THIS MONTH I’M NOT LOVING
Being so busy at work I’m barely getting any time off at all. I love my work but family time is what is the most important and it’s been too busy lately
THIS MONTHS FAVOURITES
- Vitamin B complex to help me feel a bit less sluggish
- Series 2 of ‘Fleabag’
- Madeleine Spencer’s Beauty Full Lives podcast
- Cadburys cream eggs (although I’m really limiting myself this year!!)
